Drake: “I’ve Never Worked with Olivia.”

Daaaaamn. That’s too bad, because this track is fire. Whatever though. No need to apologize. It’s not like we’re going to stop listening to anything you put out right now.
Rapper Drake has shot down reports that he collaborated with former G-Unit “first lady” Olivia on a recently leaked track titled “Control.”
Olivia apologized for the leak via Twitter and stated that the collaboration record was taken off of her upcoming mixtape, which will precede her new album Show The World.
According to Canadian rapper Drake, he never authorized any songs to be released, nor has he recorded with Olivia.
“I support artist collaborations and sampling music that inspires you but I don’t support taking unauthorized recordings and marketing them as features,” Drake said. “I’ve never worked with Olivia and I apologize to any fan who was duped into thinking that ‘Control’ was a collaboration of mine.”
Drake, who recently released the video for his single “Over” taken from his major label debut Thank Me Later, also announced he will tour Europe.
The rapper will perform 10 dates, starting at the Hove Festival in Norway beginning on July 2nd. He will then perform in Denmark, Paris, the UK, Belgium, Scotland and will wind up the tour July 13th in Manchester.
Full tour dates are listed below:
July 2 Hove Festival, Norway
July 3 Roskilde Festival, Denmark

July 7 Paradiso, Amsterdam
July 8 Les Ardentes Festival, Belgium

Olivia feat. Drake – Control

Had to give this track it’s own post off JC’s RnB Selection that just dropped below this post. Probably recorded some time last year before the explosion Drake occured. On a side note, Olivia Wilde’s a Goddess, Former G-Unit Member Olivia is a Man (HAH, God Damn)*, and Drake spazzes out on this joint. I can’t wait for ‘Thank Me Later‘.
*If anyone can tell me what joint that Olivia line’s from, I’ll give you a prize :)
Hint: G-Unit Diss Track
LUKE UPDATE: Damnit.

Drake Says ‘Over‘ Video Takes The Song To Another Place + Producer Speaks On ‘Shut It Down‘ Single
Drake speaks on his first single from his debut album Thank Me Later, followed up by words from the producer of Drakes second single off the project (‘Shut It Down‘), Omen.
According to Drake, his video for “Over” should be out very soon and the clip shows a choice he had to make in real life.
“It captures … it takes the song to another place,” he told MTV News in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, during the opening night of his Away From Home Tour. “It offers up a whole different look for the song. The song — to a lot of people — is ignorant, it’s club. This video is what I was really thinking about. The song is like a bad dream — but it’s not a bad dream, it’s not a terrible dream. It’s a little evil. The video really reflects that. It’s a struggle between the purities of my past life and what this new life has to offer. Even in the video, you see me looking back and forth between the two and deciding. At the end of the video I don’t necessarily make a decision, but when you get the album, you’ll see what choice I make.”
“Over” is early in the Thank Me Later track list, and is part of a story that’s told through the album.
“Initially it was a warm-up record,” he added of ‘Over‘. “I love the song. I love the message in the song. It’s funny, because ‘Over‘ is the fourth song on the album and it’s the turning point in the album. It’s like, you get three songs of me sort of trying to paint the picture of what the last year has been like for me — trying to fill you in, almost let you into my world as much as I can. ‘Over‘ is that moment where you’re almost worried on the album. ‘Is this kid about to … ? What’s happening? Is he changing?’ I wanted that to come out first. I wanted people to be a little nervous. This whole journey could have changed me drastically. Fortunately I’m able to step out of my shoes and reflect on it and give you some great music. ‘Over‘ is a great alter-ego moment. It’s the dark side of things and I really wanted that to come out first.”
AHH Reports – Two weeks ago, the Internet lit up at the sight of a leaked track from Drake’s anticipated debut, Thank Me Later. “Shut It Down”, a So Far Gone-lite record featuring The-Dream, was reported in September as Drake’s official lead single before any word of “Over” had surfaced.
While the overall response to “Shut It Down” was more than favorable, Stadiumred producer Omen, who worked on the track with Drake’s right-hand 40, told VIBE that version heard on the Net had a few elements absent.
“’Shut It Down‘ is still missing some ingredients. It’s missing a full Dream verse and a full rap verse from Drake,” he says. “The leaked version wasn’t the way it was supposed to be presented. It was just something that caught on so quickly… I don’t know how the hell radio got it. Drake’s rap verse is basically playing around with the song’s concept more, not really telling a story, but just talking to the ladies.”
Omen also revealed that “Shut It Down” was the first song Drake recorded for Thank Me Later in the early fall. Though he’s still unsure whether other tracks he co-produced with 40 made the final cut, from what Omen’s heard of the album, he says fans can expect more Hip Hop than heard on the mixtape that made Drake famous.
“It’s more rapping than So Far Gone… a lot more rapping. Even if he is singing it’s just the chorus. ‘Shut It Down‘ has probably the most singing on the album and then he has another one with a Sade vibe that’s dope,” he says. “He’s definitely improving his singing too. He just hired a vocal coach that he’s working with during The Away From Home Tour. This is going to be one of the top hip-hop/R&B albums out this year. I can feel it.”

Above you can check out Drake during his Away From Home Tour @ Slippery Rock Uni in Pennsylvania. performing the first track off of his debut album, Thank Me Later, entitled Fireworks. Like he promised, the track starts the way Fear ended on his So Far Gone EP. However, MTV reports that the album will now be dropping 6/15 instead of next month. Shouts to YMHQ.

Drake Sets Debut Album ‘Thank Me Later’ Release Date

I added two singles, ‘Over’ produced by Boi-1da & ‘Shut It Down’ w/ The-Dream, off the album below. Shouts to YMHQ!
It’s official. The most anticipated hip-hop album of the year finally has a release date.
Drake’s debut Thank Me Later will arrive on May 25, Rap-Up.com has learned. The Canadian singer-rapper has been in the studio with a who’s who list of collaborators including Jay-Z (“Light Up”), Kanye West, The-Dream (“Shut It Down”), Sean Garrett, and Boi-1da, who produced the first single “Over.”
The project, originally scheduled for an early spring release, has taken a little longer than expected as Drizzy strives for perfection. “This is my first album and it takes a lot for me to commit to a song and be like, ‘I like this enough that I’m gonna put it on the album,’” he told Rap-Up.com. “It’s gotta be something that I feel is timeless and is better than anything that I’ve ever done.”
Drake will travel across the country performing material from the album on his first headlining trek, “The Away From Home Tour,” kicking off April 9 at Penn State University, and wrapping in Houston on May 20, a few days before the record’s release.
“Over” is currently No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, while a video for the song, directed by Anthony Mandler, is set to debut in the coming weeks.
