Please accept my apologies for the lack of updates. My home computer has crashed since the last update, and the one at work limits my capabilities as a music connoisseur. So, I’m going to take this opportunity to re-charge my batteries, make some moves for the site, and hit you back with something mind-boggling. Again, apologies for no word, but this has been out of my hands. I’m only one man. Stay tuned.

Weezy phones in from Riker’s to spit a verse over one of the hottest songs off of Drake’s debut album Thank Me Later, Light Up.

BTW, I’d like to say something about the album. Everyone is hating on it because it didn’t live up to the hype… Obviously it didn’t live up to the hype, it was one of the most over-hyped albums ever. Compare this album to Lebron’s free agency, is he going to live up to the hype? he’s not going to win a championship next year with any team he goes to, so no he won’t live up to it, but he’ll still put up 28/7/7 for the year, MVP type numbers. In case you didn’t get that analogy, Drake’s album would have never lived up to the hype (just like Dr. Dre‘s Detox won’t), but it’s still one of the best albums I’ve ever heard, I can’t skip one song on it, not even CeCe’s Interlude.

LUKE’S 2 CENTS: Thank Me Later is projected to sell around 425k-475k copies the first week. I bought the album, I enjoy the album, but I wouldn’t go so far to say it’s a major accomplishment in the rap game. I show the dude mad love, but it’s no So Far Gone. That sh*t should have been his first album. Maybe on Drizzy‘s sophomore project, Wayne won’t be stuck in the can, helping Drake like he did with his incredibly successful mixtape of the year. One can only hope.

The first single off Kid Cudi‘s sophomore album Man On The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager set to be released this year. Cudi brings you into his reality in this album rather than his dreams in his debut, should be interesting. If you were to ask me to trade for my music, I would tell you I couldn’t give you everything in my library. Why? Because it wouldn’t be my music. Being a form of expression, the music I listen to and love the most is the type I can most closely relate. It’s like that feeling where no one in the world understands what you’re going through. For me, music fills that void. I’ll hear a lyric, feel a beat, and it’s like “DAMN! That’s exactly how I’m feelin’ right now“. It becomes part of me, in my headphones because that’s how I want my mind to function. So, for me to give you my music would be to give you a part of myself that has developed and evolved over time into an almost tangible form of emotion. Giving you someone else’s music that I’ve collected wouldn’t be giving you me. Please, don’t misinterpret the use of the word ‘my‘ like I created the song. I don’t have the talent to create, but I understand and love. That’s why I’m here: To share with you a gift that has no fixed material value.

Here’s three of my favorite tracks off one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time. Even though Recovery caught some leakage, I’m glad I didn’t hear half the CD via singles before it dropped (*cough* Thank Me Later). Seriously though, buy the album, it’s f*ckin’ incredible. Don’t get caught in the fire below.
